Our Story
Those who knew Walter and Joan Teachworth knew that they were mavericks. Their sense of adventure and love of life took them to Napa Valley in the 1990s. They took a chance when they built their estate on Diamond Mountain, and the risk turned out to be oh-so-worth the reward.
OUR FOUNDERS
Walter Teachworth met Joan on a hot summer day in Texas. She was a bright-eyed college student; he was already established in his career. A lakeside escape with friends led to the best meet-cute story we’ve ever heard (just ask us when you visit) and the start of a lifelong partnership.
Their love of Napa led them to move their young family here in the early 1990s. Over time, they carefully assembled an estate destined for world-class winemaking. Their vineyards were planted in 1997, and by 2000, the first Teachworth vintage was in barrel—marking the beginning of something extraordinary.
CARRYING THE TORCH
Today, Walter and Joan’s children, Chris and Laura Teachworth, steward the estate, ensuring their parents’ vision continues to thrive. Winemaker Taylor Berkley Boydstun leads day-to-day operations and production in an impressive winemaking facility— complete with a subterranean cave, waterfall features, laboratory, and a couple of experiments quietly aging in the cellar.
