2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak
2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Atlas Peak
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Sourced from a comparable vineyard in the Atlas Peak AVA, this vineyard on the far opposite end of the Napa Valley showcases the difference place makes to Cabernet Sauvignon. Perched on a mountaintop, this 10-acre vineyard sits just above the fogline at 1300 feet and produces a purity of expression that only elevation can bring.
Hand-picked and meticulously sorted and destemmed to 2-ton open top fermenters. Primary fermentation lasted nearly a month with active management throughout to ensure proper extraction and tannin development.
Aged in the Teachworth caves for two years, this wine was bottled in July of 2021 following 21months in French oak barrels, around 40% of which were new. This wine shines as a prime example of mountain Cabernet. Beautifully savory red fruits on the nose with tactile, present tannins and an elegant finish.
