WINEMAKER’S NOTES

Sourced from a comparable vineyard in the Howell Mountain AVA, near the top of the mountain itself, this vineyard must unfortunately remain anonymous. A last minute offer to purchase the fruit before the vineyard was sold to a historic Howell Mountain producer occasioned us a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with some fruit as equally exciting as our own.

Hand-picked and meticulously sorted and destemmed to 2-ton open top fermenters, primary fermentation lasted nearly a month with active management throughout to ensure proper extraction and tannin development.

Aged in the Teachworth caves for two years, this wine was bottled in July of 2020 following 21 months in French oak barrels, around 50% of which were new. This wine shines as a prime example of mountain Cabernet. Beautifully rich, dark purple fruits on the nose with effusive and bold tannins make for an excellent companion to our Estate.
