2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Diamond Mountain District Estate, Joan Teachworth Memorial Vintage
The 2017 vintage marks the 20th growing season from our estate vineyard and holds special meaning for our family—it was the year we said goodbye to our matriarch, Joan Teachworth. This wine stands as a quiet tribute to her strength, warmth, and the enduring spirit she brought to Teachworth.
Sourced from our petite, west-facing vineyard nestled high in the Diamond Mountain District, the site sits atop ancient volcanic ash and is known for producing Cabernet of remarkable depth and structure. Hand-harvested and carefully fermented in small open-top tanks, the fruit underwent an extended maceration to draw out its full character.
Aged for nearly two years in French oak barrels within our hillside caves, this wine offers notes of blackberry, cassis, and dried sage with a core of graphite and mountain earth. The tannins are structured yet graceful—much like Joan herself—and the finish is long, layered, and quietly powerful.
This vintage reminds us that place and memory are often intertwined—and some bottles carry more than flavor; they carry legacy.
